Puggarees can be made from 3  or more folds up to 9  wide and in the type of cloth and color you specify.  The ones shown here are made in muslin cotton cloth and are 9 folds wide applied to the Khaki 1884 helmet sold here.  
 
If you are ordering a pugaree for your existing helmet, you must do your homework and send me detailed explanations or images for me to replicate these for you as well as an outside circumference measurement of your helmet where the headband is.  I will send instructions on how to attach it to your helmet.
 
If you order a helmet from me they are created  and stitched to the helmet fabric  by hand in a couple of key locations so they do not unravel or fall off when bending over.  As such, they take a few hours to produce.  When new, puggarees are thicker as the fabric has not had time to settle. 
 
***Historical museum examples are 150 years old in some cases and are shrunken, dried out and in many cases heavily painted and are not good references***  I make mine based on historical photos.
